Colouring books donation to special learners’ school

Book colouring is part of the school’s curriculum and it is said to help improve the mindset of the learners.

Tshegofatso Special School received 450 colouring books that will help broaden learners’ minds.

The donation was made by a non-profit organisation called Ditlalemeso Foundation last Friday.

Constance Molepo, a professional nurse at the school, said book colouring is part of the school’s curriculum and helps improve the mindset of the learners.

She said the colouring books will benefit grades R to 3.

“The colouring books help learners to learn fast and improve their mindset.”

Ditlalemeso Foundation also donated 75 litres of soup to the school and promised to bring the soup to the school on Tuesdays.

Bennit Maponya from the foundation said, “Our mission was to donate books, these books will help to develop their minds because the school is for special learners”.

He said they chose Tshegofatso Special School because “we really understand their frustration and the learners they are working with at the school”.

“We also donated 75 litres of soup to the school for breakfast.”

Molepo added they are happy with the generous donations to the school.

She said the books will hopefully help develop the learners in their careers and also help to bring them to the attention of what they are doing because these books play an important role to the learners.

Boxer Store donated the books to the organisation.

Dilalemeso Organisation is a community socio-economic development organisation formed by three people who want to uplift the community of Mamelodi with skills development for the unemployed. They also aim to keep children busy and away from the streets by introducing them to different activities, including sports.

The organisation provides warm, 99% nutritious vegetable soup with bread to keep people warm and fill up their stomachs while standing in long lines before taking their medications.

The soup kitchen is run by about five volunteers on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
