Four mobile clinics to improve health service in Tshwane

The clinics will reach Dark City, Winterveldt, Olieven and Mamelodi.

To raise accessibility to healthcare services, the Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH) recently handed over 16 mobile clinics to each of the five districts in the province.

The 16 Volkswagen Crafter mobile clinics were handed over to each of the districts during a ceremony held at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital on February 21, donated by the DG Murray Trust.

The Tshwane District received four.

During the handover, MEC for Health and Wellness Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko said the effort will go a long way in keeping townships healthy and each clinic will be manned by professional healthcare workers.

“This is a proud moment for our department, and I want to assure our communities that we remain firm in our vision to deliver quality healthcare services. With these mobile clinics, we are reaffirming our dedication to making healthcare accessible to all. Together, we are building a healthier and more inclusive Gauteng,” said the MEC.

In Tshwane, the clinics will reach Dark City, Winterveldt, Olievenhoutbosch, and Mamelodi.

The mobile clinics are equipped with:

– BP machine
– Glucose test
– Scales for adults and children
– Ear, nose and throat set,
– Emergency kit
– Examination bed and light
– Air conditioning
– Microwave
– Hand-wash basin
– Fridge
– Cupboard for medication
– Oxygen point and cylinder
– Fire hydrant
– Extension cable
– Toilet and
– Inverter

The mobile clinics will provide essential health services in townships, informal settlements and hostels, including TB, STI, and diabetes screening, pregnancy testing, child immunisation, deworming, and HIV testing, among others.
