Drug dealer arrested following intensive operation in Centurion

The suspect was under surveillance and based on intelligence and a search and seizure warrant, a takedown operation was executed.

A drug dealer was arrested this morning as a result of an intensive intelligence-driven operation by the SAPS in Centurion.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk said as part of ongoing intelligence-driven operations within the Wierdabrug SAPS policing precinct another successful drug-related arrest was executed in the early hours of Wednesday, March 19.
The operations were conducted in collaboration with the E2 Partnership, which included multiple private security companies.

“At approximately 06:00, members of Wierdabrug SAPS and the Tshwane District Drug Task Team executed a search warrant at the residence of a suspected drug dealer.”

He said the operation followed an intensive intelligence-gathering process after credible information was received.

“The suspect had been under surveillance for a period, during which his movements and modus operandi were closely monitored by a multi-stakeholder team,” Van Dyk said.

“Based on the intelligence gathered, and with a search and seizure warrant in place, a well-coordinated takedown operation was planned and executed.”

He said as the suspect was preparing to leave his residence in Rooihuiskraal, police members, who were strategically positioned, took decisive action as he opened the door.

“The suspect was immediately presented with the search warrant, and a thorough search of his residence was conducted.”

He said several small bags of a white substance, believed to be CAT, were recovered. The suspect was arrested for possession and dealing in drugs.

“The suspect’s details will be submitted to the Department of Home Affairs to determine his legal status in the country.

Van Dyk said Tshwane District Commissioner Major-General Samuel Thine commended the team for their dedication and continued efforts in ensuring the safety and well-being of Tshwane residents.
