Four people were shot and killed at the “Marry Me” informal settlement in Soshanguve Extension Three in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili stated that the incident occurred around 03:00 when a group of community patrollers were conducting their patrols and encountered five individuals on the street.

She explained that when the patrollers approached the five individuals, a quarrel broke out, which tragically escalated into violence, resulting in four fatalities and multiple injuries.

“Police officers arrived at the crime scene around 06:00 and discovered the bodies of the four victims, who had sustained gunshot wounds and were also partially burned,” Muridili said.

She noted that witnesses at the scene informed the police that, in addition to the deceased, eight other individuals were injured during the incident and were transported to hospitals in private vehicles and ambulances.

“The motive for this violent confrontation is still under investigation, and no arrests have been made at this stage,” she added.

“The provincial and district serious and violent crime Investigations, along with forensic experts, are currently combing the area and interviewing witnesses to gather more information,” added Muridili.

She also mentioned that public order police and Soshanguve police have been deployed to the area to ensure stability in the aftermath of this violent incident.
