R50 000 reward yields no lead for missing journalist and partner
It is now more than a month as police probe the case of a missing journalist and his partner.
Today marks 37 days since the manager of Capital Live Sibusiso Ndlovu and his partner Precious Mdluli went missing, and no person has come forward with the information that will help police find the missing couple.
Despite interventions from the African Media and Communicators Forum and National Press Club (NPC) offering a reward of R50 000 in a bid to find them, no new lead has emerged.
The reward was offered to help strengthen the case for the missing couple.
Police spokesperson Johan van Dyk confirmed last week that a missing person case was opened on February 18 for Ndlovu.
“There is no strong lead as yet and the investigating officer is working hard to locate him,” he said.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo on March 25, said that no new lead has been developed regarding the case.
“There are no new developments regarding the case of the missing journalist.”
He said that investigations are still ongoing.
Ndlovu, an NPC committee member, was reported missing on February 18, while his partner was only reported missing a few days later on February 24.

A media statement released by the NPC forum a week ago detailed how the journalist and his partner went missing.
“They were last seen on February 18 and since then there has been no trace or word regarding their whereabouts. With each passing day, the families grow even more anxious and all of us become worried about their well-being.
“It is troubling that for almost a month there isn’t a shred of evidence or lead as to where they might be or what has happened to them. It is for that reason that the African Media and Communicators Forum together with the press club have joined forces to support the families.”
According to the statement, the family had also turned to a private investigator (PI) to aid in finding the duo.
“The PI has since done some work which includes searching hospitals, mortuaries, hotels and other places of interest. Up to now, there are no leads. It is for that reason that a reward of R50 000 is now offered to any persons who will provide good quality information that will assist police with the investigations and the couple being found.”
Anybody who has information is requested to contact Brigadier Mxolisi Edwin Nama of the Provincial Head of the Serious and Violent Crime Investigations on 082 778 9035.
