Mams artist brings soul music into new era
She writes her own songs, often performing them with her guitar, embodying a sound that draws comparisons to some of the greats in soul music.
Meet Darlianoh, a neo-soul and R&B singer-songwriter quickly becoming one of the most compelling artists on the South African music scene.
The 28-year-old from Mamelodi has a resonant voice and lyrics that embrace love, sensuality, and self-empowerment.
Darlianoh has captivated audiences with her blend of soulful melodies, live instrumentation, and heartfelt storytelling.
Darlianoh’s music is deeply rooted in authenticity.
She writes her own songs, often sings them to her own guitar accompaniment, embodying a sound that draws comparisons to some of the greats of soul.
She said she started singing at the age of 10 during school assembly and occasionally at church events.
Darlianoh is inspired by Hillsong, and American gospel from her mom’s favourite Cd and DVD collection.
She continued singing with friends at home and knew this was her thing.
At the age of 14, she recorded a house track titled “Mixed Emotions” with Dr Tee SA and then went on to record under Big Sharks with Young Slouda and Russianoh as an RNB artist at the age of 17.
Around 2015 after high school, she started performing live at places like Black Labone with a band called The Vivid and from then she’s been a session artist at weddings and corporate gigs.
In 2021 she recorded the Mind Your Bassness album with Calvin Fallo. The album was released 2022.
Beyond her solo career, Darlianoh has had collaborations with notable producers and artists, including Fallo, Hypaphonik, and Kota Embassy.
Her versatility has also seen her embrace genres beyond R&B and neo-soul, such as amapiano and broken beat house.
She has performed internationally, sharing her music with audiences in Mozambique and Lesotho, and locally on stages such as the State Theatre.
Her most recent single, “Emoyeni”, released in February 2025, showcases her signature blend of soulful vocals, piano-driven melodies, and deep bass rhythms.
The song was been praised for its emotional depth and musical sophistication.
Darlianoh is preparing to release a brand-new single soon. Fans can expect more of the depth and richness that define her sound.
