Metro police enforce by-laws in Bronkhorstspruit
The TMPD says working with other departments makes for more effective operations in ensuring that various aspects of law enforcement and community safety are addressed.
The Tshwane metro launched a by-law operation in the Bronkhorstspruit area recently as part of its clamp-down on crime.
The operation showcased a commitment to prioritise enforcement of by-laws and regulations to ensure that businesses within the region comply.
According to a statement released by the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) on April 4, Region 7 members conducted an integrated by-law operation in collaboration with various departments including the SAPS and the Department of Health. This was to address a range of issues from health compliance to illegal activities.
“During the operation, nine Section 56 infringement notices valued at R17 500 were issued, as well as 18 Aarto infringement notices worth R10 500 were also issued to other businesses.”
TMPD said another operation was carried out in Region 4 Centurion precinct. Twenty Section 56 infringement notices valued at R10 000 were issued.
“In addition, one Aarto fine of R2 500 was issued. Two immigrants were detained for being in the country without documentation.”
The department said a stolen vehicle was recovered and transported to the SAPS pound for safekeeping.
Furthermore, Region 6 Sector 1 members undertook a by-law operation to ensure business compliance.
“Nine establishments were visited and inspected and found to be non-compliant, three of which were shuttered.”
They said 10 Section 56 infringement notices were issued, totalling R25 000.
“Other businesses received infringement warnings for trading without a licence and failing to maintain firefighting equipment in compliance with standards that are not naturally ventilated to prevent flame accumulation.”
The TMPD said these operations reflect the departments’ commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, and promoting compliance with local regulations.
“The collaboration with other departments enhances the effectiveness of these operations, addressing various aspects of law enforcement and community safety,” said TMPD.
The TMPD encourages community members to report any illegal activities or non-compliance with by-laws to maintain a safe and orderly environment for all residents and businesses in Tshwane.
