Isolated scattered showers are expected in Pretoria today and tomorrow, and sunshine is expected for the rest of the week.

According to VoxWeather forecaster Michelle du Plessis, the level 2 warning in place for severe thunderstorms in Hartebeespoortdam will not impact Pretoria residents.

“We are only expecting isolating showers today, and on Wednesday, scattered showers are expected in the West of Gauteng.”

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) had been on high alert, with multiple weather warnings issued as a powerful storm system moved across the region.

On Monday, the impact zone included southeastern Namibia, southwestern Botswana, and large parts of South Africa’s Northern Cape, North West, Free State, and northwestern KwaZulu-Natal.

By Tuesday, the storm had intensified and extended into the Eastern Cape, Lesotho, and deeper into the Western Cape — including Cape Town.

A major concern remained for Wednesday morning, with the trailing edge of the cut-off low (COL) expected to bring heavy rainfall to the southeastern parts of the Western Cape and southwestern areas of the Eastern Cape.

Forecasters warned of possible localised flooding, travel disruptions, and property damage.

Severe weather was also anticipated to reach Gauteng, western Mpumalanga, parts of Limpopo, and eastern KwaZulu-Natal as the system continued to sweep inland.
