Five suspects make away with electronics and vehicle in Murrayfield armed robbery
The communty is urged to share any information with the Silverton police that might lead to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the stolen property.
Silverton police are investigating an armed robbery case after five armed suspects stole electronics and a vehicle in Murrayfield, east of Pretoria.
Police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk said the suspects targeted a residential property that operates as a business on Trevor Street on Wednesday.
Van Dyk said the suspects fled with a light blue Hyundai i20 sedan vehicle and electronic devices.
He said the complainant, a 47-year-old man, alleged that he was inside the back room of the house when he heard unusual noises coming from the main living area.
“Upon investigating, he found five of his employees lying on the floor, seemingly already subdued,” Van Dyk said.
He said that the five suspects were all wearing balaclavas and two of them were carrying firearms.
“The complainant said the robbers immediately confronted him, threatening him with a firearm before tying him up with cable ties and forcing him to lie down on the floor,” Van Dyk explained.
He said the suspects proceeded to search the premises, taking several valuable items, including electronic equipment and the complainant’s vehicle.
“They loaded the stolen items into the car and drove off, leaving the victims tied up inside the property,” Van Dyk said.
Van Dyk urged anyone with information to contact the Silverton police immediately.
