Pretoria residents flock to enjoy classic “drive-in”
Residents could either sit in, on or outside their cars to enjoy this classic experience where the sound comes through your car radio.
Families from across Pretoria came in their numbers to enjoy the Woodlands Drive-In movie nights this weekend.
The drive-in movie experience was held at the mall’s parking lot outside the Restaurant Piazza and drop-off zone opposite Heat Grill Room, closest to entrance four.
Organiser Leone Amon said that the Drive-In Movie nights are “a fantastic experience for the whole family, young and old, to enjoy something from yesteryear.”

“The drive-in movie nights are either a sit-in, -on, or outside your car, and watch a classic where the sound comes through your car radio,” said Amon.
The Moreleta Woodlands Boulevard partnered with Drive-In last October in the summer, which was completely sold out.
She said the movie nights had two family-related films on the Friday and Sunday night.
On the Saturday night, there is one family film and the second, Flight Risk, has an age restriction of 16. The Drive-In movie nights tickets Includes both films on the night, with the first starting from 18:00.

The sound comes through 108FM on your car radio, and each vehicle receives a menu flyer with take-away food options to choose from.
Jacques van Deventer said they were excited to attend the Drive-in movie nights. He described the drive-in movie night as a nice family-orientated experience where families could watch the movie inside their cars or sit outside with camp chairs.
“We live in a time that is moving faster and faster with technology at the forefront and Drive-In offers a respite from that, even if just for a few hours,” Amon added.
“Many young people have never even been to a Drive-In or seen a portable radio, it’s fun to see them experience something different”.

“With a big open-air screen under the stars, sound through your vehicle’s radio and a tub of popcorn, this is sure to be a fun-filled night out for the whole family.”
The drive-in movie nights ran from 25 April and continue to 28 April from 18:00 till late.
