EFF hands over demands to Tshwane metro officials at Kleinfontein
The EFF marched to Kleinfontein cultural community on Friday to present the metro with their demands for enforcing an August 2024 court order.
Representatives of the EFF handed a memorandum of seven demands to a representative of the metro on May 2 at the gates of Kleinfontein Cultural community outside Bronkhorstspruit.
Sello Chipu, representative of the metro, said Tshwane is busy with actions to speed up the implementation of the court order of the Gauteng High Court, which named Kleinfontein an illegal settlement.
“We see Kleinfontein as an illegal township,” said Chipu. “We acknowledge receiving the memorandum and the demands.”
The demands were read out to a crowd established by the police as more than 2 000.

The EFF’s “premier in waiting” Nkululeko Dunga said that the party wants the metro to enforce the court order of August 2024 and halt any future development at Kleinfontein.
“We also want legal action to be taken for wherever they are not complying with the by-laws, as well as an investigation into these violations. Furthermore, we want any underpayment of taxes to be seen to and complied with at present, with the metro enforcing these.”
He pointed out that the party is giving the metro 14 days from today to carry out their demands.
The crowd, chanting “Down with Verwoerd” and “Kleinfontein must Fall”, also welcomed on stage MP Carl Niehaus.
He said that he saw on Kleinfontein’s entrance the words indicating “Ons God” (Our God).
“Kleinfontein, you cannot claim God just as you cannot claim this land,” said Niehaus.

The crowd dispersed after 15:00. They waited for buses at the entrance. Earlier, they walked 5km on the R515 with marshals keeping the crowd well-controlled.
Kleinfontein’s management earlier indicated that they will not be receiving any memorandums or entertain any negotiations with the EFF as they have invited them to a round table discussion but their invitation was refused.
Comment from Kleinfontein on the seven demands will be added as soon as it is received.
