Visser said they promptly triaged the patients on-site before providing treatment and co-ordinating their transport to various hospitals with the assistance of other ambulance services.
He added that 15 patients were transported to hospital while three others declined medical treatment.
“Our team worked alongside several ambulance services to ensure that all patients received timely medical attention.”
Visser added they are also grateful for the support from local security companies that assisted in managing the scene.
He extended thanks to armed reaction officers from Interactive Security, CSI Security, and Bull Security for their assistance in managing an aggressive bystander who caused a disturbance and endangered the responders.
VEMRU is a registered non-profit and public beneficiary organisation that provides emergency medical and trauma response services free of charge.
