Swift police response to Montana housebreaking praised
According to police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk, at approximately 07:30, a vigilant neighbour heard a loud bang coming from the home next door.
A local resident, Hennie Jordaan, has praised the swift response of the Sinoville police and security company, Citi Protection, in a housebreaking reported in Montana Park on May 6.
According to police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk, at around 07:30, a vigilant neighbour heard a loud bang coming from the home next door.
Concerned, the neighbour went outside to investigate and saw a white BMW parked in the yard, with unknown individuals loading items into the vehicle.
Van Dyk said that when the neighbour realised that the people didn’t match the description of the home’s usual occupants, he pressed his panic button to alert security.
“The alarm appeared to scare the suspects, who quickly fled the scene in the BMW.
“The neighbour contacted the owner of the property, who confirmed that the house had been rented out. The owner called the tenant, while the neighbour contacted Sinoville SAPS without delay,” said Van Dyk.
He said police officers promptly arrived at the scene and inspected the property with the neighbour.
They found clear signs of forced entry where the garage door had been broken into, and the kitchen door had been damaged.
Van Dyk said the tenant arrived shortly thereafter and confirmed that a television and printer had been stolen.
Officers opened a case of housebreaking and theft and called in the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) to process the scene and collect evidence.
“The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this stage.”
Jordaan expressed appreciation over the fast reaction time of Sinoville SAPS and Citi Protection.
“Their response was quick and professional. It gave us peace of mind knowing they were there to assist so promptly,” said Jordaan.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to their nearest police station or community security networks.
