Local organisation builds toilets for teachers
One of the members of 5M Foundation bikers’ club visited his old school and found out that teachers at his old school do not have proper ablution system.
A local bikers’ club donated new toilets to a primary school in Mamelodi over the past weekend.
The new toilet building at Tshimollo Primary School caters for both male and female teachers and was officially handed over to the school by the members of the 5M Foundation bikers’ club.
Ally Tseka club said the old teacher’s toilets used to be next to the learners’ toilets.
Tseka said the new toilets are for the school teachers, one male toilet, a urinary system and one female toilet, next to the school office.
“The teachers used to walk 250-300m to the toilets,” said Tseka.
Tseka said the toilets project, which took two months to complete, also created job opportunities for six residents.
The 5M foundation is a non-profit organisation consisting of 23 bikers established in 2022, after fellow biker Mpho “Five Minutes” Ramaila died.
Tseka said the foundation is a movement in remembrance of Ramaila.
“We started with the donation of groceries and sanitary towels in his home town Jane Furse, in Limpopo. In 2023, we donated at Oliven and in 2024 we donated groceries worth R30 000 to Lodweick Old Age Home in Eersterust,” he said.
“For 2025, we decided to do something meaningful to create permanent memories. That’s when we asked our members to look for schools, clinics or churches that need some uplifting.”
One of the members, Given Sebaka, visited Tshimollo, his old primary school and found that teachers do not have proper ablution facilities.
“Foundation executive members also visited the school to verify, and we started to collect money from our members to build the toilets.”
Tseka said the project is also part of giving back to the community, and the school belongs to the community.
“The project was a success, and it took two months to complete because we did not want to disturb classes.
“We worked mostly after school and on weekends.”
The school thanked the bike club for what they have done for the teachers.
“It shows that there are good people out there who care about society and teachers.”
