Fire breaks out at Tshwane China Mall

A fire broke out in the basement storeroom of Tshwane China Mall on Saturday night. Here is the latest information.

A fire erupted in the basement storeroom of Tshwane China Mall on the corner of Sefako Makgato Drive and Moloto Road in Derdepoort on Saturday night.

According to acting liaison officer of the Tshwane Emergency Department, Tebogo Make, the incident was reported at around 21:30.

He said the emergency services were swiftly dispatched.

“At 21:30 the Tshwane Emergency Services got a call for building fire at the Tshwane China Mall on the corner of sefako Makgato Drive and Moloto Road in Derdepoort.”

He said the emergency control centre dispatched the fire engine water tanker and video unit to the scene.

“When our firefighters arrived, Kameeldrift SAPS was on the scene and the fire was already extinguished, however the firefighters continued with the fire overhaul until 21:54. The basement storeroom was the only part of the building affected.”

Make said the cause of the fire is under investigation of the police.
