Wheelchair makes life easier for Mams man
The donation was part of Sanco’s initiative to address daily social issues happening in communities.
The South African National Civics Association (Sanco) in Mamelodi donated a wheelchair to a resident on Tuesday.
The donation was part of the organisation’s initiative to address daily social issues in the communities.
The wheelchair was donated to Solomon Mabuse (46) from Mamelodi Gardens, whose leg was surgically removed above the knee joint two years ago.
Mabuse said his leg was amputated following a two-year illness which left the doctor with no choice but to amputate his left leg.
He said wheelchairs are very expensive and he could not afford one.
The donation of the wheelchair will make his life easier because he was struggling with many things, such as going out and shopping.
Fire Mashao, Tshwane regional Sanco chairperson, said their programme had been in existence since 2018, and addresses daily challenges in the community.
Mashao said the wheelchair donation came after one of their members in Mamelodi informed them about Mabuse’s living conditions.
“We could not sit down and fold our hands,” he said, adding that the organisation does not favour any political party.
“We don’t mind whether a person belongs to a political party. We are here to serve the community,” Mashao concluded.
