Join CPF radio network in case of emergencies, robberies
Two armed robberies prompt Sinoville CPF to urge residents to join the safety radio network.
Residents in the Sinoville area are being urged to strengthen their household safety by joining the community radio network run by the Sinoville CPF following two armed house robberies earlier this week.
According to the CPF, the robberies occurred on March 11 and involved armed suspects who entered homes and held victims at gunpoint while stealing valuables.
During the incidents, victims were reportedly tied up while the suspects ransacked the homes.
Among the items stolen were a Suzuki Swift vehicle, laptops, cellphones, jewellery, perfume and other household belongings. The suspects later fled.
The robberies have once again raised concerns about home safety in the area and highlighted the importance of having immediate communication during emergencies.
Chairperson of the Sinoville CPF Pierre Briel said the cases demonstrate how quickly situations can escalate and why residents should ensure they have reliable ways to call for help.
“These incidents show how vulnerable people can be when criminals enter their homes.
“In many cases, victims cannot access their phones or cellphone networks may fail, especially during load-shedding. That is why the CPF radio network is such an important tool for community safety.”
The CPF has been encouraging residents to obtain two-way radios that connect directly to the community safety network.
These radios allow residents to communicate with the CPF radio controller, other community members, and emergency services.
According to the CPF, the radio system offers several advantages compared to relying only on cellphones.
The radios can operate even when cellphone networks are down or congested, and they continue to work during power outages and load-shedding.
“With a CPF radio, residents can immediately alert the network if something suspicious is happening or if they need urgent assistance.”
The system also connects residents to a broader community safety structure, ensuring that calls for help reach multiple responders at the same time.
Briel said the CPF’s goal is to ensure that no resident is isolated during a crisis.
“Crime can happen very quickly, and when it does, communication is critical. Residents must not wait until something happens before thinking about safety.
“Being part of the radio network ensures that you are connected when it matters most,” he said.
To support residents who want to join, the CPF provides free training on how to use the radios effectively.
The training ensures that users understand radio communication procedures and know how to report emergencies correctly.
Residents who wish to join the network or become members of the CPF can obtain more information through the CPF’s sector administrators.
Community members are also encouraged to report suspicious activity immediately and to work together with the CPF and law enforcement agencies to strengthen safety in the neighbourhood.
