10-hour water shutdown in Babelegi area on Thursday
Residents are urged to prepare themselves for about 10 hours without water while the metro will conduct planned maintenance at the Babelegi Reservoir.

The Tshwane metro has announced a planned water supply shutdown affecting several communities in the Babelegi Reservoir and Tower areas scheduled for March 26.
According to Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo, the interruption will last about 10 hours from 07:00 to 17:00.
“The shutdown is necessary to allow for the installation of an inlet and bypass system on the reservoir meter, a project aimed at improving long-term water management and infrastructure reliability,” said Mashigo.
He stated that the work forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery and ensure the sustainability of the water supply network.
Areas expected to be affected during the shutdown include Kekana, Refilwe, Mandela Village, Marokolong, Ramotse, Babelegi Industries, Rockville, and Leboneng.
Mashigo apologised for any inconvenience and urged residents to prepare accordingly by storing enough water ahead of the shutdown.
“Residents are also encouraged to use water sparingly during this period,” he added.
Mashigo outlined several water-saving measures, including not watering gardens, washing cars, cleaning driveways and pavements with hosepipes, filling pools and flushing toilets unnecessarily.
He urged residents to turn off taps while brushing teeth and reduce overall daily water consumption as much as possible.
“Residents are encouraged to report any water supply interruptions, burst pipes, or leaks to the city’s call centre to ensure timely response and maintenance,” he said.
Mashigo emphasised the importance of community cooperation during the shutdown, noting that responsible water usage can help minimise strain on the system while essential upgrades are being completed.
