Planned power maintenance of Aries substation this Thursday

The metro teams will conduct maintenance work at the Aries Substation on June 10–11, resulting in electricity supply interruptions in several Waterkloof streets.

Residents in parts of Waterkloof can expect electricity supply interruptions over two days as the Tshwane metro undertakes maintenance work at the Aries Substation.

The city’s Energy and Electricity Business Unit will carry out maintenance on the 11kV panels at the substation on June 10–11.

According to the metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo, technical teams will implement hourly rotational switching on high-voltage switchgear between 08:00 and 16:00 on both days.

“The maintenance work is necessary to ensure the continued reliability and safety of the electricity supply infrastructure.”

Mashigo said the metro appealed to affected residents to be patient while their teams complete the required work.

The following streets in Waterkloof will be affected by the interruptions: Johan Rissik Street, Perseus Avenue, Bootes Street, Aries Street, Dorado Street, and Delphinus Street.

Mashigo urged residents to exercise caution during the interruption period.

“Residents are reminded to treat all electricity network points as live at all times, including during supply interruptions, as power may be restored without prior notice,” he said.

He explained that the planned maintenance is part of ongoing efforts by the municipality to ensure that electricity infrastructure remains in good working condition and to reduce the risk of unplanned outages in the future.

Residents requiring additional information or assistance can contact the metro on 012 358 9999 and select option 3.

“The City of Tshwane apologises profusely for the inconvenience that may arise as a result of the above-mentioned work.”

Mashigo added that the metro appreciates the co-operation and understanding of residents while the work is being carried out.
