100 bags of tar donated to help fix more potholes in north
Meyer says that the North AfriForum projects are mostly successful because of the cooperation the organisation has with the residents.
The AfriForum pothole project received 100 bags of tar donated by a local business on Friday, June 9 to help fix more potholes in Pretoria North.
According to the AfriForum North branch project manager Quentin Meyer, the pothole project has been going on for two months now and has already fixed about 120 potholes in the north and Akasia.
“The project is going very well, we are currently fixing between 5-10 potholes a day and that is all thanks to our contributors who are mostly individuals from the community, concerned about their area.”

Meyer continued saying that the fixing of potholes is because, their goal as an organisation is to uplift their community in every way especially with fixing problems that affect the day-to-day lives of the North residents.
“One of our contributors, a businessman from the North said that if the area is neglected then there won’t be business coming here and residents will leave because of lack of service delivery, so upliftment and maintenance are important,” said Meyer.
A resident from the North, Tebogo Mpufane applauds AfriForum for taking charge and doing a great job in doing community outreaches, especially where the government is not taking its part.
“For instance, the pothole project should be done by the government and not by an organisation but we decided to not wait and take charge,” Mpufane concluded.
Meyer said that the North AfriForum projects are mostly successful because of the cooperation the organisation has with the residents.
“The organisation seeks help, then residents reach out with contributions as they all have an end goal to uplift Pretoria North.”
He further said potholes are a danger to motorists and can cost them to take out extra money to fix damage to their cars. Fixing the potholes was a need and a must for everyone affected.
He concluded by saying that the organisation needed more help to do more work for the community.
