Boschkop motorcyclist dies in crash as bike, car attempt to avoid pothole
Allegations are that both motorist and biker were attempting to avoid a pothole when they collided.
A 26-year-old motorcyclist died when he collided with a small motor vehicle as both allegedly attempted to avoid a pothole in Boschkop.
The driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Yeroboam Mbatsane said the crash occurred on Graham Road around 07:30 on Tuesday.
He said it was suggested that the driver was attempting to avoid a pothole when he hit the motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist was declared dead on the scene.
Mbatsane added that it appeared the motorcyclist was also attempting to avoid the pothole but couldn’t successfully do so.
He said police investigations are, however, underway and the exact circumstances will be uncovered.
“We have opened an inquest,” he added.
