Ga-Rankuwa Shining Stars gear up for Inter LFA playoffs
The team won the Ga-Rankuwa Local Football Association earlier this month after winning all their league games.
Ga-Rankuwa Shining Stars deputy president and head coach Given Letlhogonolo Mokoka anticipate new challenges as the team prepares for Inter LFA playoffs in the coming weeks.
The local football team have been shining like their name recently by winning the Ga-Rankuwa Local Football Association league earlier this month without defeat.
The team won all 14 games played, scored 60 goals, conceded 5 and collected 42 points to the championship.
Mokoka said the team showed discipline, consistency and respect for one another throughout the season to emerge victorious.
“I’m proud of them, I am happy as a coach to see young players performing like that,” he said.

Despite being shining stars, Mokoka said they had difficult moments in the season but their togetherness as a team and technical team helped them prevail.
“I for one had my moments but I was very fortunate to have a good technical team who helped the team when I was away,” he said.
Mokoka added that the challenges didn’t end there as the team prepare to face teams from Soshanguve, Mabopane and Hammanskraal in the playoffs.
He said the next challenge is bigger than what they’ve faced in the league.
“There will be more challenges in the coming months but I am hoping that my team will play better in the playoffs as we are currently preparing for them,” he said.

He said his team managed to reach its short-term goal which was to win the league and all their games.
“We didn’t want to concede any goals but mistakes happen and it’s understandable, it’s a game of football – not all games are the same,” he said.
He said that he would like to see his team playing in the Tshwane women’s regional league soon and the Hollywoodbets Super league.
“Our objective is seeing the team in the regional leagues, then Sasol leagues but we are not disputing that women’s football has its challenges in terms of finances but we were fortunate to have sponsors helping us over the years,” he said.
