320kg of dog food donated to Wollies

Charity group, UmVuzo Aid, handed over R5 000 of food to the animal shelter. “Animals don’t have voices of their own so we need to step up and be their voices for them.”

Non-profit UmVuzo Aid donated 16 bags of 20kg dog food to the value of R5 000 to animal shelter, Wollies.

Spokesperson for UmVuzu Aid, Bev Kibby-Wessels, said that Wollies was chosen for the good work that they do.

“We have supported Wollies before and we always leave the shelter on such a high. Their premises are well looked after and the love and care they give to all the animals just really touches our hearts,” she said.

“We are currently putting our focus on supporting animal shelters and donating as much as we can. Animals don’t have voices of their own so we need to step up and be their voices.”

Chairperson of Wollies Animal Shelter, Cilla Trexler, said: “We want to thank Christina and her group from UmVuzo Aid very much for their large donation of food. Believe me, it will fill a lot of food bowls and we are very grateful”.

She said that Wollies is dependent on gifts and donations to feed the animals in its care. Trexler said that the shelter is currently taking in many animals as rescues or that were given up by their owners, “putting the shelter under a lot of pressure as we are going into the festive season”.

“We use five big municipal refuse bins full of food a day for the dogs and two for the cats.

“So thanks Christina and all our other wonderful donors for thinking of us and making our work possible!”

Kibby-Wessels said: “At UmVuzo, we focus on empowerment and re-instilling a sense of pride and accomplishment back into the hearts of our nation. Our products, services, and projects are centred around serving the people, and we couldn’t stand idly by while many suffer. We’re here to serve, and through our servant leadership, we’ll re-establish South Africa as a great nation, one community at a time.”
