Mathosa to lead Team SA netball in Region V games

She won the title with the team in 2021 and seeks to retain it this year.

TUT netball coach Emily Mathosa has expressed excitement about her appointment as Team South Africa netball head coach.

Mathosa will be leading the team in Region V Games in Lilongwe, Malawi in December.

She said she’s grateful for the opportunity given to her to lead the team as a young netball coach in South Africa.

Mathosa and her technical team have already selected the squad they’re going to be travelling with to Malawi next month.

She said they are happy with the players they have selected to the final SA u.19 team.

“I strongly believe in everyone. I’ve seen them play in different competitions in SA and I strongly believe they will deliver not only for the netball family but for our country,” he said.

She admitted that the competition is not going to be easy but she’s looking forward to it.

“I know very well that it won’t be a walk in the park for SA and I strongly believe that we will be able to match the standards in Africa,” she said.

She added that the aim is to finish top and ensure they defend their title won last year in the Region V games.

She said she needs to ensure she motivates the girls in every way possible and give them clear information for them to pull through in this competition.

“I need to make sure that they are ready to showcase their talent on African soil. One thing I love is that they come from different clubs or universities and they are a young group that will be a feeder to our national squad in the future,” she said.

She added that they have to ensure that they get it right at this stage to prepare them for the future.
