Two Zimbabweans nationals are expected to appear in the Pretoria Central court on Tuesday.

This is after the duo was arrested for possession of suspected illicit cigarettes, unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Last week, the police arrested four people in possession of suspected unlicensed firearms – a 9mm pistol and a 38 special revolver as well as 9mm, 38 special and 45mm bullets.

During this time of the year, police in Centurion increase visibility with roadblocks as well as routine stop-and-searches.

Recently, Lyttelton police station commander Thebeng Matlala assured Centurion residents that police will not give criminals space for manoeuvre in the area.

Matlala said the arrests would restore the residents’ lost trust in the police.

He said it was vital for police to work hand in hand with communities to reduce and win the crime battle.
