Dube, Winterveldt pastors pray for peace

This was after the station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Portia Malatsi pleaded with various pastors from different churches to pray for the station.

Dube Social Crime Prevention and various pastors in Winterveldt held a prayer of peace, crime, love and protection within the community and the police.

This was after the station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Portia Malatsi pleaded with the pastors to pray for the station and its members.

Pastors shared the stage with words of encouragement to members to serve with pride and dignity and secure the safety of citizens this festive season.

Pastor Solomon Mosemane conducted a chain prayer with all members combined also victim empowerment and community patrollers.

Mosemane said the station faced its internal challenges like any other office and needed spiritual divine intervention.

“Crime is escalating in our area and they can’t manage that, so it looks like they’re falling apart,” he said.

“We had to pray for the community and the police to be united.

“Their role is not only by law but it’s a heavenly appointment. We were encouraging them to see that they’re stewards of God, not just government,” he said.

Mosemane said the community thanked the pastors for the service rendered to the police.

“They said we are not police officials, but I heard and understood what our role is in the community,” he said.

He added that now the community will start seeing the police officers differently.

Dube CPF chairperson Napoleon Hlungwane said the prayer was a success.

“We are trying to form a united front and fight against the escalating crime and the protection of our police officers,” he said.

“The work they have is not easy and they needed to pray for each other to be safe.”

With the festive season fast approaching, Hlungwane said the police need all the prayers they can get.

Hlungwane also issued certificates to CPF members who completed community safety courses offered to assist police to fight crime in Dube, Winterveldt.
