Atteridgeville gets a new station commander

“The important thing is that the community should feel safe and it is the responsibility of the police to ensure that they are safe.”

The recently appointed Atteridgeville police station commander says he is ready to take crime head-on in the area.

“The important thing is that the community should feel safe and it is the responsibility of the police to ensure that they are safe,” said Brigadier Andrew Monegi.

With 33 years of policing experience under his belt, the station, according to corporate communication officer, Constable MM Rikhotso, is “buzzing with excitement” following the appointment.

“The new station commander is vibrant and is filled with energy to fight crime and this is reflected by his knowledge of the crime dynamics in Atteridgeville,” Rikhotso said.

Monegi has previously manned stations such as Eldorado, Meadowlands, Jeppe and Moffatview.

The new station commander also has a diploma in police administration and completed vast amounts of training courses and workshops within the police.

“With his inclusive style of management, Brigadier Andrew Monegi’s relentless persistence will re-ignite the passion for policing in the Atteridgeville police,” Rikhotso continued.

Monegi believes that community involvement is key to defeating crime within the area, and urges residents to play a proactive part in the police’s fight against crime, as this makes communities safer for all.

“The community must join hands with the police, these criminals can only be defeated if we work together and create an uncomfortable environment for them to operate in,” Monegi said.

The new station commander has strategies in place that the community can expect would be rolled out in due course, starting with regular community engagements to grow trust and cooperation between residents and police.

“Atteridgeville community now stands at an advantage against crime with the tenacious station commander,” Rikhotso concluded.
