SAPS flying squad arrest two suspects for hijacking VW Polo

The police recently arrested 29 people in two weeks on the R55.

Tshwane police flying squad members apprehended two suspects in the hijacking of a VW Polo on the notorious R55 road, near the Olievenhoutbosch mall on Monday.

“The vehicle was hijacked in Vosman,” said police spokesperson Sergeant Alfred Legodi.

“Upon inspecting the car, we discovered that it had a false registration. We also found another VW Polo.”

Police found a toy gun in the car valued at R3 750.

The Wierdabrug SAPS has since opened a case of possession of a stolen vehicle and the suspects were detained at the police station.

They expected to appear in the Pretoria Central magistrate’s court this week.

Law enforcement agencies have arrested 29 suspects in two weeks on the R55 recently.

During a joint operation between the SAPS and the Department of Home Affairs, 25 illegal immigrants were arrested on the R55 near the Zwartkop race track.
