Sosh charity continues to do good despite lack of sponsorship
The foundation has been in existence for over a year and has hosted several outreach programmes to bring change to the community.
Soshanguve Ext 4 resident Koketso Mpumelelo Moalamedi has extended a hand to help vulnerable teenagers in her community.
Moalamedi opened Thusanang NPO in 2021 to help teenagers struggling with body image, substance abuse, family problems, lack of affordable housing and stereotypes.
She said growing up in a Christian family that loved helping people motivated her to start an NPO to benefit the community.
She said growing up, people believed that she was the solution to their problems so they gave her the nickname “self-made psychologist/social worker”.
Moalamedi has launched several projects to assist people despite no financial support.
She uses money from her own pocket and collaborates with other organisations to make her events a success.
“We collaborate with other people who have a similar vision as us, but still we end up not doing what we wanted to do because of limited resources,” she said.
The NPO offers programmes like the Thusanang business hub in collaboration with local businesses.
It also hosts a talent show after which the best performers are given Thusanang inspirational awards.
The foundation has been hosting outreach programmes in Soshanguve such as giving away sanitary towels and clothes among other things.
She said the community has been supportive of the foundation.
“They love what we are doing, we have their support and they even volunteer when we have community events,” she said.
Moalamedi encouraged community leaders to support the projects her charity hosts in the community to make a difference.
“The candle that lights another candle will never lose its light. To everyone who is reading the article, God cannot give you a vision and fail to sustain it. Believe in yourself – God knows when he will make your vision a reality,” she said.
Moalamedi is assisted by Kamogelo Motene and Tshiamo Masonganyi as members to run the projects of the NPO.
Anyone willing to assist the foundation can contact Moalamedi on 066 587 8429.
