Basadi Ba Moshito hosts second graduation

Basadi Ba Moshito Foundation hosted its second annual Unleashed Skills Development graduation in Lyttelton, Centurion at the weekend.

The Nerderduitsch Hervormde Kerk auditorium was full of graduates and family members.

Basadi marketing director Karabo Maluleke described the event as a milestone in the foundation’s existence.

“We have been running for almost two years, and this is our second graduation. We have graduated 15 more women than we did last year,” Maluleke said.

Maluleke said it brought so much joy to the organisation to see most of the graduates blossom and do wonders for themselves.

“We are proud to see these women become the remarkable women they are because some of them came in so downtrodden, so hopeless and weak but now they are so encouraged and motivated. Most of them now have business ideas and are implementing them.”

She acknowledged community members who contributed to making the event a success.

Graduate Nthabiseng Sehoma said she was thankful to have been part of the programme as most of the things she learned were beneficial to her.

“Life has changed and while it might not have changed entirely, we are getting there. I am a better woman today than I was before I joined the programme. I wish and hope such programmes and initiatives are supported to build and cultivate women in our society,” Sehoma said.

She thanked the CEO for being kind, caring and making sure that women are prioritised.

Another graduate, Johanna Montana, said she was amazed by the love she received when she joined the programme.

“We are hugged and kissed here. This is something we don’t experience in our homes. When we first got here, we didn’t know anything and my first impression was that I was going to pass time. Little did I know this programme will make me the person I am today,” Montana said.

She said that she felt unique and brave, adding that she was now ready to fulfil her dreams and aspirations through the knowledge she acquired.
