122 children benefit from resident’s 50th birthday

Faith Sibeko has been running a back-to-school drive for over 10 years. However, this year she decided to donate school uniforms among other things to 112 children in Ga-Rankuwa.

A resident has decided to celebrate her birthday by giving to children in need instead of receiving gifts.

Faith Sibeko recently turned 50 and celebrated her birthday by giving away essentials to school kids registered to her Faith and Hope Foundation and other needy children in her community of Ga-Rankuwa.

She planned to give to 50 children representing her 50 years of life.

“When I planned my birthday, I had different ideas of what I wanted to do. And out of all that, I wondered, why can’t I share with the needy children? Then, I planned to do it with 50 children so that each child will represent a year of my life.”

But the 50 had turned into 110 when the children arrived at her home to celebrate.

“Luckily, I had 50 pre-packed bags of shoes, bags and other goodies. So I took the 50 that are registered with my foundation, whom I knew needed help, then divided the rest for the other children.”

She had a lot of school uniforms and every child left her house with something – shoes, shirts and bags to name a few.

She said giving means a lot to her because she learned that the hand that gives is the hand that receives double.

“For the past 10 years, I have been doing the back-to-school drive, but it was very special to me this year. I never had so many school uniforms before but God added the extras. I thank the Almighty for what happened on my birthday.”

Sibeko partnered with Dockey Tladi Foundation, Miller Family and Kati Dambrosio from Germany, who is always there to assist on the back-to-school drive.

“Dockey Tladi foundation is not only assisting us, but also assisting charity organisations around Ga-Rankuwa. We have been working with them for the past six years.”
