Electricians restoring power to Pretoria North

Teams are on the ground investigating, repairing and trying to find solutions.

Electricians were on site on Monday afternoon restoring electricity to residents in Pretoria North, Florauna and Wolmer, after a transformer exploded.

The exact time for full restoration of power could not be determined.

Residents in the north were without electricity since yesterday after the transformer on the corner of Jack Hindon Street and Berg Avenue blew.

Teams are currently on the ground now repairing the transformer on Brits Road after the one of Berg Avenue was replaced.

According to ward 2 councillor Yolanda Duvenage, load-shedding and the rainy weather last night contributed to repair delays.

“The biggest outage at this stage is the blocks surrounding the burned-out transformer.

“Most of the power outages currently in the ward are concentrated in one or two streets and between two to 10 houses.”

Duvenage said it was difficult to communicate definitive restoration times since the teams are still on the ground investigating and repairing.

She however said she would do her best to keep residents informed.
