Police honoured by Eersterust community

This year it was The Eersterust Care and Training Centre who reached out to their men and women in blue.

The Eersterust community showed its love and appreciation for the police force during a National Police Day celebration on Friday afternoon.

This year, it was The Eersterust Care and Training Centre that reached out to its men and women in blue.

Thinking they were visiting the centre to share safety tips, the police were in for a delightful surprise when centre staff started singing songs to commend them for their hard work.

Eersterust police spokesperson Sam Shibambo said the highlight of the day was when the officers received delicious, freshly baked chocolate cakes as part of the celebration.

“Melvin Hoods and his wife Gloria Hoods, who founded the centre in 1980, presented the police with a certificate of appreciation,” said Shibambo.

“Not to be outdone by their elders, the student presented the police again with a beautiful handcrafted picture depicting the officers.

“The centre’s management thanked the police and prayed for their safety.”

Eersterust station commander Lieutenant Colonel Simon Matshwane Theledi thanked Eersterust Care and Training Centre’s management for its love, dedication, care and support that it is giving to the vulnerable members of society.
