Water and power outages unacceptable, says Sosh residents
“We can’t be facing water cuts and power cuts, it’s unacceptable,” a resident says.

Some areas in Soshanguve being without water for 10 days and a blackout weekend added to residents’ frustrations.
Soshanguve Block L, LKK, LVV, M, VV and UU had to endure a hot weekend without water and electricity.
Block L, LKK, LVV and M were without electricity from 07:30 on Saturday morning until 21:00 that day.
On Sunday more residents suffered the same fate at Block UU and VV as they had no power from morning until evening adding to the frustrations of the water outage.
Block L, LKK, LVV and M were once again hit by a power outage on Sunday afternoon and the cause of the interrupted power supply was not communicated.
Residents accused the Tshwane metro of not caring about them and failing to render services to them.
Timothy Maluleke from Block L was left frustrated by the power outage. He said the metro was doing nothing about the situation.
“We can’t continue like this. The metro continues to give zero services and doesn’t care at all,” he said.
Tshidi Mokoka said dealing with water outages was one thing but having to deal with water and power outages was unacceptable.
“We have load-shedding already but now I don’t get why we have to go through hours without power and we don’t know where the problem was or if this is going to continue,” she said.
Smanga Mancoba said she was surprised when the power went off while they were not on the schedule for load-shedding.
“We can’t be facing water cuts and power cuts, it’s unacceptable,” she said.
Brian Sigini called the Tshwane administration a complete failure following a power outage.
Botlhale Mosia said it has now become a norm that power never returns after a scheduled load-shedding.
“Worse there’s no update. They keep quiet and leave us wondering. We are tired now. On the other hand, there’s no water maybe residents should take action now,” she said.
The metro said they are still investigating what led to the power cuts.
“We are yet to receive comments. We are held back by the department that is supposed to give us comments,” the administration said.
