TMPD, Laudium police arrest woman for drug possession, dealing
Law enforcement agencies found a plastic containing a substance suspected to be drugs in her home, says Laudium spokesperson.
The Tshwane metro police (TMPD) and Laudium police arrested a 34-year-old woman on Friday for possession of drugs.
Laudium police spokesperson Sergeant Simon Chokoe said police received a tip-off about a woman dealing drugs.
“Information about drug dealings with the description of the person and address in Laudium was received.
“Police with other law enforcement acted swiftly. The address and suspect matching the description given was spotted and cornered at Umber Street in Laudium,” said Chokoe.
Chokoe said a plastic containing a substance suspected to be drugs was found in the house.
He said the joint crime intelligence operation between TMPD and the SAPS made the arrest possible.
The Laudium police opened a case of possession and dealing in drugs, and the woman is expected to appear in the Atteridgeville magistrate’s court early this week.
“The police and TMPD will continue with multiple discipline operations such as visibility patrol and stop-and-searches to ensure that the communities are and feel safe.”
Acting Laudium station commander Captain Ashraaf Packree commended members of the community for their continued support in making sure that they report any form of crime in their respective neighbourhoods.
“I want to thank and applaud members of the community for continuous partnership with the police on fighting crime,” Packree said.
