Road closures due to EFF march tomorrow

"From the gathering point, the marchers will proceed on Petrick Avenue until they reach the Faerie Glen shopping centre at Cliffendale Drive."

The Tshwane metro police warned motorists to avoid certain roads in Faerie Glen in the east of Pretoria on Tuesday because of a protest march by the EFF.

The Tshwane metro police issued a statement saying the march was due to take place at 10:00.

Marchers would gather on the corner of Petrick Avenue and Oshoek Street, Faerie Glen, according to the statement.

The purpose of the march was to follow up on a recent stabbing incident in the area, according to Tshwane metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.

“From the gathering point, the marchers will proceed on Petrick Avenue until they reach the Faerie Glen shopping centre at Cliffendale Drive.

“The marchers are expected to disperse from Cliffendale restaurant at 12:30.”

The following streets will be affected:

– Oshoek Street
– Petrick Avenue
– Orkney Crescent
– Cliffendale Drive

“TMPD officers will be deployed to monitor the march and all affected streets.”

Motorists are advised to avoid affected streets and use alternative routes such as:

– Plettenberg Street
– Atterbury Road
– Nebo Crescent
