Second Pretoria lottery winner in two weeks

The winning ticket was purchased at a chicken distributor retailer in Soshanguve, west of Pretoria.

Another Pretoria resident has become a multi-millionaire overnight with a winning jackpot lottery ticket.

This makes the winner the second Pretoria resident to have won the lottery in two weeks.

Two lucky players became multi-millionaires over the weekend from the Lotto and Lotto Plus One draws, with the winning ticket belonging to a resident of Soshanguve.

After seven rollovers, Ithuba said it was its first Lotto jackpot winner from Capitec, who won an impressive R22.2-million from draw number 2307.

As with all other banking app players, the process remains the same and the winner will be contacted by the bank to claim his or her winnings.

The winning ticket was purchased at a chicken distributor retailer in Soshanguve, west of Pretoria.

“We are excited about our latest Lotto and Lotto Plus One jackpot winners,” said Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza.

“We can’t wait to meet our first Capitec Lotto jackpot winner, we are even more excited to welcome the next millionaires to come in the year 2023.”

Last week, a Pretoria man in his 30s won R32-million after he decided to validate a batch of lottery tickets, one of which turned out to be the winning ticket for the PowerBall jackpot from January 31.

The winner said he had only started playing the national lottery five years ago, but was always hopeful he would win someday.

He played the PowerBall via the quick-pick selection at Checkers in Randburg.

The winner planned to pay off his home loan and will continue working.
