Water restoration to affected Tshwane areas will be done gradually

Residents are urged to continue being prudent when using water.

Residents who receive water from high-lying reservoirs will be the last to receive water and recover acceptable reservoir levels.

Tshwane announced that Rand Water opened the water supply from its reservoir yesterday and there will be a gradual flow into the metro’s reservoirs.

This comes after a large number of residents in the metro were left without water following a decrease and, in some instances, depletion of water levels in the metro’s reservoirs.

Tshwane spokesperson Selby Bokaba said as stated by Rand Water, subsequent to the repairs to the flooded Engine Room 3 of the Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant, there were slight delays before pumping got back to full capacity.

The latest reservoir levels received are as follows:

– Mooikloof reservoir (empty): supplies Mooikloof
– Grootfontein reservoir (empty): supplies Grootfontein, The Hills and surrounding areas
– Carina Street reservoirs (57, 55 and 52%): supply Waterkloof Ridge
– Monument Park Tower (empty): supplies high-lying areas of Monument Park
– Garsfontein reservoir (24 and 27%): is the holding reservoir in the east
– Parkmore HL reservoir (15%): supplies high-lying areas of Menlyn, Garsfontein and surrounding areas
– Heights reservoir (critically low 11%): is the holding reservoir and supplies Pretoria West areas including the Moot.

Residents are urged to continue being prudent when using water.
