A new parkrun, Earth Day volunteer projects, live music from local award-winning talents and many more fun things to do around Pretoria this weekend.

Renew: Magnolia Dell Park, April 23

Why not spend some time giving back to your community this weekend with this project to renew, clean up, and instil pride in an iconic local park?

Magnolia Dell Park was originally a soil dumping site for roadworks in the early 1940s and was inaugurated in 1967 by the director of parks and recreation at the time, Harry Bruinslich.

When work was completed, 250 magnolia trees were planted in the park, giving it its name.

Volunteers will meet in the park at 07:30 for the clean-up project.

Earth Day, April 21 and 22

Centurion residents can also get in on the community service with a clean-up project at Bishops Bird Park (April 21) and Hennops Mews Conservancy (April 22) with the Hennops River Revival.

The clean-up events will take place from 09:00 to 13:00 with bags, gloves, drinking water and some tools supplied.

All you need to take part are refillable water bottles, working clothes, closed shoes and sun protection.
