The local CPF led by JN Msimanga partnered with the Marabastad Businessman Community (MBC) to give the victim-friendly room at the station a new look.

“A collection of small business owners under our umbrella, namely Abebe Refe, Nafek G Abebe, Andualem Kebede, Solomon S Berham, Seide I Refera, Abey Deledabo and Fasil Hailey were received by station’s management which handed out certificates as a token of appreciation,” Nkhumise said.

Vispol commander Colonel JP Maboea, who was in attendance, applauded the efforts made by the stakeholders involved, reiterating that the community and police must work together to put a stop to crime.

Maboea further applauded the CPF for bringing initiatives of this nature to the station.

CPF district chairperson FT Mlotshwa, who was also in attendance, said, “This will bring about change and ensure that victims feel safe and can entrust the police in handling their cases”.

Residents who are victims of domestic violence or know of someone going through domestic violence were urged to contact their local authorities.
