Afriforum takes on dirty streets in Pretoria North
“The team members emptied dustbins that were full and picked-up waste.”

Afriforum North members have taken it upon themselves to clean the dirty corners and walkways of Pretoria North.
The team targeted illegal dumping spots last week.
Brits Avenue, Steyn Avenue, Gerrit Maritz Street, and Rachel de Beer were among the streets cleaned.
The members cleaned up parks, removed all the litter, trimmed the grass, cut down branches and cleaned out landfills to make the parks accessible and safe again, according to participant Quentin Meyer.

Meyer said the team was focusing on all corners of Pretoria North.
“We had a team of six dedicated members who made sure that several streets in the north are clean and free of illegal dumping,” Meyer said.
“The team members emptied dustbins that were full and picked up waste. We had a bakkie which was our main transport to drop the waste at a correct dumping site.”
Meyer said if the community can work together, it can restore the area to its former glory.

“We humbly ask the community to refrain from creating small illegal dumping sites everywhere as this defeats our purpose of making this town great again.
Meyer said this clean-up will be an everyday thing.

“We will assign our teams to clean and eradicate waste. We want to make this town a place of zero environmental pollution.
Meyer said Afriforum North has completed many projects in the area and is planning on more to improve the town and make it safer.
He urged residents to report illegal dumping to the Tshwane metro police and thanked everyone involved in the clean-up project.
