Roseville resident attacked by pitbull
“One patient suffered multiple bites but moderate injuries for which they were treated,” says SVTA/Lifemed spokesperson Dean Slater.
Emergency personnel responded to a pitbull attack in Roseville, central Pretoria, on Tuesday evening where a patient suffered moderate injuries.
SVTA/Lifemed and other emergency services responded to the scene at 18:40.
“First responders found one patient with multiple bites – tears and puncture wounds – but moderate injuries for which they were treated,” said SVTA/Lifemed spokesperson Dean Slater.
The police have taken over the investigation.
Pitbulls have been at the forefront of much controversy this year, and this latest attack adds to growing concern about the danger these animals potentially pose.
In late March, two women were viciously attacked by a dog near Corundum and 19th streets in Laudium.
Paramedics reported one sustained serious injuries to her face, while the other sustained moderate injuries.
Amid growing calls for a ban on keeping Pitbulls as pets, owners are urged to remember that their pet’s action is their responsibility.
Pitbull Federation of South Africa president Jeanette Erasmus previously told Rekord that dog owners must be aware that they are responsible for the actions of their dogs and that all too often the focus was on the dog instead of what the law stipulates.
