Pretoria has loads of events this Mother’s day weekend
A day to honour moms in every form, the Capital has many events to treat that special lady.

Enovelle and Lizé Leigh, May 12

Enovelle, no stranger to Pretoria’s best venues, describes itself as a world-fusion band that fuses its core romantic folk music with influences from around the world.
They will be joined by Centurion’s Lizé Leigh, who has been performing around the Capital since 2010 when she first discovered her talent.
The evening is expected to be a great way to warm up on Friday evening, at Café Barcelona from 18:00.
Pancake festival, May 13

It’s almost impossible to go to a festival or market in Pretoria without finding a pancake stall, but this event is dedicated purely to the South African favourite.
The Pancake festival (www.pannekoekfees.co.za) will be held on Saturday at the NG Church Montana from 08:00 to 14:00.
Several stalls will feature pancakes with a variety of fillings, from chicken livers, Bobotie, and bacon and cheese, to caramel and banana, peppermint crisp, and of course the classic cinnamon sugar.
There will also be a market with fresh produce and craft items and a play park for the kids.
Blanket run, May 13

Give back this weekend as temperatures begin to plummet towards the winter months with blanket runs in support of Solidariteit’s Helpende Hand initiative.
Motorcycle lovers and beyond can enjoy this event that has been running for 10 years this year.
The run’s meet and greet will start at 08:00, in Moreleta at Rock@88 and will arrive at Lavender Kontrei Mark, where attendees will be treated to live music by the Drommedaris Drum Duo.
The event has a R10 entry and invites everyone attending to donate blankets for those in need.
Mother’s Day at Railways, May 14

Treat your cool mom to a day of live music and good vibes at Railways in Irene, featuring local acts Zaan Sonnekus, Vrede and Zoe.
Pre-booked guests can get a food platter and a bottle of wine to enjoy the live acts, which hit the stage at 14:00.
Johan Anker, May 12

Start the celebrations early with the special Mother’s Day concert at Centurion Theatre on Friday from 19:30.
Johan Anker, from The Voice South Africa season 1, is a light classical and gospel Afrikaans singer that has been making his rounds at venues in the city.
Anker will be performing well-known hits from Gé Korsten, Elvis, Whitney Houston, Pavarotti, and local music legends. He said that the show was put together with moms in mind.
Drie van die Bestes, May 14

Danie Niehaus, Mathys Roets, and Germandt Geldenhuys will come together once again this Mother’s Day for a special show.
Despite each having a varied musical style in this show – from pop to ballads and light classical music – their voices come together in a formidable combination on stage.
As solo artists, each is in a class of his own and each a star in his own right – Germandt with his powerful tenor voice, Mathys with a calm, velvety voice in the lower registers and Danie as an award-winning and versatile artist and songwriter.
Together, the three artists make for an incredible musical journey from 15:00 at the Atterbury Theatre.
