Gift of Givers deliver thousands of bottled water to Hammanskraal residents amidst cholera outbreak

The team visited 17 families of the deceased and donated small food parcels, bottled water and hygiene packs so they can prepare for the burial of their loved ones.

Gift of the Givers delivered thousands of bottled water and hygiene packs to the community of Hammanskraal in the north of Pretoria, following the cholera outbreak that claimed the lives of 23 people.

The bottles and packs were delivered at Themba stadium.

“Families here now depend on bottled water, but many cannot afford them,” said Gift of the Givers Foundation spokesperson Clifford Mabe.

The Department of Health announced that there was a cholera outbreak in the area of Hammanskraal after lab results were positive for the stool specimens of 19 people who had diarrhoea, stomach cramps and nausea at Jubilee District Hospital.
