36 hour water shutdown at Wallmansthal from Tuesday
The water shutdown is due to the planned maintenance which is scheduled to start on Tuesday, September 5 at 00:00.
Magalies Water announced a 36-hour-long shutdown of the Wallmansthal supply scheme due to planned maintenance.
The maintenance is scheduled to start at 00:00 on Tuesday, September 5.
Spokesperson David Magae said the shutdown will affect supply but after repairs, normal water supply will resume.
During the time of repairs, the plant will be decommissioned to allow two plant inlet sluice valves to be replaced.
“The shutdown will also include the removal of the old sluice valves, installation of the new valves and an allowance period for the grout to set and dry,” Magae said.
Magae said Magalies Water will augment water from the Roodeplaat water treatment plant to minimise water supply interruptions.
“However during the time of augmentation, the public should use water sparingly.”
“We apologise for the inconvenience that may be caused.”
He said preserving water will help to prevent prolonged water supply interruptions.
