Fire at a hotel in Centurion CBD extinguished

Residents reported seeing trees outside the hotel on fire.

Tshwane firefighters managed to put out a fire outside a hotel in Centurion CBD and confirmed that nobody was injured.

Locals reported the fire began around 21:30 on Sunday, October 1.

A large plume of smoke with high flames could be seen in the area on Sunday night.

A video (a resident posted to social media) shows some trees had caught alight and some items were burning on the property.

Several individuals can be seen attempting to move flammable items away from what was later identified as stacks of cardboard boxes.

Tshwane emergency services spokesperson, deputy chief Charles Mabaso, confirmed that the incident was reported as a grass fire.

“Firefighters arrived on the scene to find stacks of boxes burning near the hotel,” Mabaso told Rekord.

“The fire was extinguished and no injuries were recorded,” he said.

The hotel had not commented at the time of publishing.

For fire and rescue emergencies, residents can call the toll-free 107 number or 012 358 6300/6400.
