Tshwane joins hands with partners to create a better city

Internal Municipal Service Districts (IMSDs), also known as a City Improvement Districts bring with them the promise of tailored, specialised services that will help the city thrive and become safer.

Tshwane says that in conjunction with business and locals, it is accelerating its effort to establish an internal municipal service district (IMSD), also known as a city improvement district (CID) for a safer city.

MMC for community safety Grandi Theunissen said this was a significant step forward in the commitment to enhance the quality of life of residents and to make Tshwane safer and more vibrant.

He said the creation of the district brought with it the promise of tailored, specialised services that cater to the unique needs of specific areas within the city.

“This proactive approach to addressing challenges and opportunities in various districts is a testament to our dedication of creating more livable, secure and inclusive urban environments.”

Theunissen said by collaborating with stakeholders who share a deep interest in the well-being of Tshwane, it not only fostered a sense of community but also meant taking practical steps to ensure that every corner of the metro thrived.

“The engagement of residents, business and property owners in shaping the direction of these districts is essential, as it reflects a collective commitment to building a better future.”

He encouraged active participation, open dialogue and collaboration among all stakeholders as a way of moving the districts forward.

“It is through these collective efforts that we can truly harness the city’s potential and ensure the service these areas receive is not only effective, but responsive to the needs of our residents.

“Together, we can create a safer, more vibrant and better-connected city that we can all be proud to call home,” he said.
