No one knows where the security guards were during the break-in.
Police are investigating a case where 13 Sassa cards, groceries and an undisclosed amount of money from a Mamelodi old aged home were stolen during a break-in.
Spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said police received a complaint about the break-in on Tuesday morning.
He said the complainant, a staffer at the home, alleged that when she knocked off on Monday, everything was fine and in order.
However, when she arrived at work the following day, she found pieces of ceiling on the floor.
“When she investigated further, she found that groceries were missing, and a drawer in which the residents’ Sassa cards were kept open and cards missing,” said Van Dyk.

The police have already started the investigation.
No one knows where the security guards were at the time of the break-in.
Some 42 elderly people reside in the home.

The home declined to comment claiming the matter was very sensitive.
Van Dyk said there had been no arrest so far and invited anyone who had information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators to call police on 08600 10 111.
