Mayor encourages residents to register to vote this weekend

'If you have moved to Tshwane since the last election, you must register your new address.’

Tshwane metro has encouraged residents to register this weekend to vote in the upcoming 2024 provincial and national elections.

This weekend (November 18 and 19) the Electoral Commission of SA (IEC) will conduct a voter registration campaign at its 22 300 voting stations countrywide in preparation for the important 2024 provincial and national elections.

To register, voters will need to bring a valid ID – either a smart card, green barcode or temporary certificate.

Tshwane mayor Cilliers Brink reminded people who recently moved to the metro that it is essential to register in the area where you live.

“If you have moved to Tshwane since the last election, you must register your new address.

“I also want to appeal to the youth and those who have never voted before to go and register at their local stations,” said Brink.

“This is important because you can only vote where you are registered.

This election we can make an enormous difference to turn the tide in our country.

With your support, we can overcome the most difficult challenges and secure a bright future for our nation.

Do not miss this important opportunity to make a difference in our country.”
