Tshwane metro police hook 13 for drunk driving
All the arrested drivers in Pretoria East were tested, and they were beyond the legal limit of 0,24 ml.
The Tshwane Metro Police Department has arrested 13 drunk drivers in a Pretoria East operation.
Tshwane metro police spokesperson Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said the operation which provided arrests, was initiated on January 26, 2024.
“The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) conducted a drunk driving operation in Region 6, east of Tshwane. The operation was a success and led to the arrest of 13 drivers who were driving under the influence of alcohol.”
“All the arrested drivers were tested, and they were beyond the legal limit of 0,24 ml, in correspondence with a breathalyser.”

Mahamba added that the TMPD Cable Theft Unit members also arrested one suspect for tampering and damaging essential infrastructure and possession of a stolen cable in Pretoria West.
“The members received a complaint of cable theft in progress on January 28, from security guards at a power station in Pretoria West.”
“The complaint was positive, upon arrival, the officers spotted 5 suspects who fled in different directions when they were tactically approached. One suspect was apprehended.”
He said tools were found on the scene which included 2m casings, 2m copper cable, a hack saw, hammers, a chisel, and hacksaw blades.
